Proletarian Art Threat CD- Sham 003
And then there are those bands who couldn’t give a shit if their music fits within the typical idea of a proper song structure. That isn’t the point.
Proletarian Art Threat (1999 – 2001) formed following the implosion of Cleveland punk band The Conservatives. Prole went out to make it ugly; to challenge show attendees on the extent to which they could dine on punk as the intensity knob was recklessly spun to the right.
Influenced by such artists as US Maple, Bad Brains, the early Rye Coalition, and the masters of jazz, the players came of age on hardcore and punk, but looked to channel the energy and intensity toward a progression of thought on the matter – a progression of approach; a progression of self-awareness; a progression of observing just what the fuck was going on in the world around them. Reaching beyond the self-released EPs the band provided at shows, The Long Process of Quitting is 25 tracks of sheer bombastic in-the-red crushery. Represented are two different line-ups of the group in studio as well as live settings. Handsomely packaged with sentimental linernotes, typos, and somewhat inaccurate credits.
